Road trip to FC!

Going up to FC here.

You'll notice that the message came from my computer at home.

It's the rig I set up specifically for the HP Mini 1116NR netbook, bought used on ebay- previous owners trashed the flash hard drive for privacy concerns. HP Minis usually comes with a pathetically small hard drive. Lousy if you're planning on doing everything on it. It uses Flash-based SSD Zero Insertion Force hard drives, something not easy to get. I also had to order from HP, a set of install CDs, which only will install on a HD, nothing USB or SD Card. Same goes for my copy of "TinyVista." HP's Linux-based "Mobile Internet Experience" kept bugging me for the missing hard drive. I ordered a new drive, it never arrived in time for FC. Ah, well. I'm using Ubuntu Netbook edition, installed on a C-2 speed 8 GB SD card.

What's working for me is that I put the Linux Wine pack of Teamviewer on it, and then use the computer at home through the EVDO modem. This moves the traffic load to the home computer, which is unrestricted. The traffic I use on the modem is just the video, keyboard, and mouse interface.

Okay, enough of that. Let's enjoy the con!

Happy new year!

Happy new me!

I've learned quite a bit during my con-goings and con-going attempts, so I've cut down tremendously on what I'll be bringing along. The dog, bless her heart, will be staying home.

For FC I'll leave the sodas and snacks to the others, and if there's nothing I like, I'll go out and shop for things, but it'll just be water, I have lots of dried BBQ chicken and turkey for myself.

I'll pack a couple of small giveaways - you might have seen something having a sticker with TurinAramaia.com web address on it.

I'm sorry for the lack of a logo or picture, but I haven't commissioned an avatar yet, but I'll get one made. I'll finish up my character's bio and stats in time for the con so I can get him drawn.

I hope to see you guys at the con!

Need room space for me, interested family member, and a worry-free pup.

The open spaces I wanted to get to go to FC just closed up on me, so I am needing some space to rest our heads at the con. While it would be favorable, it doesn't exactly have to be AT the con hotel, as long as it's not more than a few minutes away.

Will pay a share of the room expenses, and if there's some budget room, I can make sandwiches from stuff I can get at Costco or Restaraunt Depot. I can even get you bundles of snacks at cost, less than what you'd pay at convenience stores.

I've got ideas on how to make congoing less of a mad scramble, and more pleasureable to everyone, attendees, fursuiters, and dealers alike.

So can you open up your heart and door to let us in?

Thanks and hopefully I'll see you at the con!
